Goblin Beastmasters learned long ago that the best source of emergency rations were capable of transporting themselves. Rats, arguably the origin of the word ration, are viewed as peak companions. Small, durable and tasty... they are also surprisingly proficient in combat. So much so, that many beastmasters have taken to emulating their future meals by taking their form in combat.
